Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work Swedish The Murillo Gardens, Seville by Hugo Birger. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,311.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hugo Birger - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work "Badbrygga vid stranden av Engelska kanalen" (Jetty on the beach of the English Channel), which sold at auction in December 2013 for SEK 400,000.00 (€ 45,170.19).
