Fine Chinese Paintings Formerly in the Collection of Mingzhai 南洋明齋舊藏古代及近現代中國書畫 Lots 801-839 楊作明（1925-1984），廣東潮州澄海人，後移居馬來西亞從商。雖是僑胞身份，卻對中國書畫十分著迷，自行鑽研書畫收藏。約六十年代末期，經由楊之光先生推薦而個別造訪北京榮寶齋、天津藝苑及上海畫苑等地，收購許多該地區著名書畫家之作。據藏家後人講述，家中與楊之光弟子單伯欽先生亦有深交，其中兩件帶其上款的作品分別為關良〈武劇人物〉（拍賣編號826）及關山月〈灕江山水〉（拍賣編號827）。因南洋地區專業裝裱行當較不風行，楊先生還曾特地在香港逗留多時，就教於裝池能手，返家後自行裱畫，其專注與投入，絕非一般收藏家可與比肩。

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Hua Yan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in June this year. In the Fine Chinese Paintings auction, the work Tao Hongjing In Retreat sold for HKD 281,600.00 (€ 32,904.91) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hua Yan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Birds and Flowers in May 2010 with an auction result of HKD 19,140,000.00 (€ 1,988,430.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Hua Yan erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings wurde die Arbeit Tao Hongjing In Retreat für HKD 281.600,00 (€ 32.904,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hua Yan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Birds and Flowers im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 19.140.000,00 (€ 1.988.430,75).
