In October 2017 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings, which included the work Squirrel by Hua Yan. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 162,500.00 (€ 17,885.04), 63% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hua Yan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Birds and Flowers in May 2010 with an auction result of HKD 19,140,000.00 (€ 1,988,430.75).

Im Oktober 2017 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Squirrel von Hua Yan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 162.500,00 (€ 17.885,04) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hua Yan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Birds and Flowers im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 19.140.000,00 (€ 1.988.430,75).
