Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work H.M.S. St. George, 91 guns, off the coast of Spain by Henry Valter. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 822.50 (€ 1,378.94), 18% above the upper estimate. Other works by Henry Valter have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,134.17) in June 2005 for the work The Old Flagship At Dusk.
