signed 'HRSTEER' (lower left); further signed, titled and inscribed
'In Leicester's Cause
John of Gaunt, Earl of Lancaster, having displeased the people by the imposition of taxes, Wat Tyler & his followers, besides other destructive acts, burned his town residence The Savoy Place, etc: etc. They then threatened to destroy Leicester Castle and were said to be at 'Harbro'. The Mayor & Burgesses of Leicester turned out, at sunrise: June. 1381. to defend the Town & Castle: but nothing further happened.
