Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2000 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures, which included the work Naval Intelligence; Greenwich Pensioners reading a copy of The Times by Henry James Pidding. The price achieved of GBP 9,400.00 (€ 14,900.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry James Pidding - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Figures playing baccarat in a gaming room, which sold at auction in June 2000 for GBP 23,500.00 (€ 37,250.39).
