This artwork by Henry James Johnstone achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Melbourne in April 2003. In the THE ESTATE OF THE LATE FREDERICK D. BLADIN auction, the work Two Figures Boating on a River sold for AUD 12,337.50 (€ 6,291.32) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Henry James Johnstone; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Valley of the Sturt, Craigieburn, South Australia sold at auction in April 2003 with the realized price of AUD 22,325.00 (€ 11,384.30).
