Despite a disappointment, a good price for Henry Albert Payne
When the work The Valley of Humiliation by Henry Albert Payne was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,151.84). Despite this disappointing result, The Valley of Humiliation is the most expensive artwork by Henry Albert Payne that we have observed at auction so far.
Trotz Enttäuschung ein guter Preis für Henry Albert Payne
Als die Arbeit The Valley of Humiliation von Henry Albert Payne im Juni 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.585,00 (€ 5.151,84) den Besitzer.
