Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2004 Christies in London held the auction AT HOME - BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES, which included the work Polishing Armour At The Blacksmith'S Forge by Hendricus Johannes Scheeres. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 717.00 (€ 1,031.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Hendricus Johannes Scheeres have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cavalier writing a letter; Young girl reading a letter in March 2003 with an auction result of GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,255.33).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 717,00 (€ 1.031,96) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
