Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Gijsbert Gillisz. de Hondecoutre (1604-1653), half-length, holding a palette and brushes; and Portrait of his wife Maria Hulstman, half-length, holding a child by Hendrick Bloemaert was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2010. The price achieved of GBP 121,250.00 (€ 140,649.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hendrick Bloemaert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Allegory Of Winter in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 866,500.00 (€ 1,115,472.85).
