This artwork by Helene Schjerfbeck achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July last year. In the European & British Art, Part I auction, the work Spanish Girl sold for GBP 942,500.00 (€ 1,125,512.40) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Helene Schjerfbeck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tanssiaiskengät; Balskorna (Dancing Shoes), which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 3,044,500.00 (€ 3,872,737.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Helene Schjerfbeck erzielte im Juli letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion European & British Art, Part I wurde die Arbeit Spanish Girl für GBP 942.500,00 (€ 1.125.512,40) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Helene Schjerfbeck mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Tanssiaiskengät; Balskorna (Dancing Shoes) beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 3.044.500,00 (€ 3.872.737,05) versteigert wurde.
