Auction result well in line with expectations
The work New York City (woman with cat and dog), 1940 by Helen Levitt was auctioned at Christies in Sydney in August this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,048.00 (€ 5,579.85) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Helen Levitt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work New York, c.1942 in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 29,300.00 (€ 41,027.58).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit New York City (woman with cat and dog), 1940 von Helen Levitt kam im August diesen Jahres bei Christies in Sydney zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.048,00 (€ 5.579,85) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Helen Levitt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit New York, c.1942 im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 29.300,00 (€ 41.027,58).
