In February 2012 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work The wine taster by Hector Hanoteau. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,179.09), 17% above the upper estimate. With this result, The wine taster is even the most expensive work of art by Hector Hanoteau that we have observed at auctions so far.
