Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction European & British Art, Part I, which included the work Spring Pasture near Bernau in the Black Forest by Hans Thoma. The price achieved of GBP 37,800.00 (€ 45,139.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hans Thoma - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Blick auf Mamolsheim, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 139,250.00 (€ 161,529.58).
