Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Moorish Smoker by Gyula Tornai was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2009. The price achieved of USD 1,250.00 (€ 942.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gyula Tornai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travelling Musicians, Tangier in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 170,500.00 (€ 219,490.04).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.250,00 (€ 942,61) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden.
