Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hungarian Smoker With Hookah And Marabou by Gyula Tornai was sold in the A Collection of Orientalist Art auction at Sothebys in Doha in March 2009. The price achieved of USD 22,500.00 (€ 16,967.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gyula Tornai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travelling Musicians, Tangier in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 170,500.00 (€ 219,490.04).

Die Arbeit Hungarian Smoker With Hookah And Marabou von Gyula Tornai wurde im März 2009 in der Auktion A Collection of Orientalist Art bei Sothebys in Doha versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 16.967,05) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 18.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gyula Tornai erzielen.
