Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The old Oak, Ornans by Gustave Courbet was sold in the Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900, Session I auction at Sothebys in Paris in June 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 75,600.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Courbet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Femme Nue Couchée in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 15,285,000.00 (€ 14,471,690.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The old Oak, Ornans von Gustave Courbet wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900, Session I bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 75.600,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Courbet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Femme Nue Couchée im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.285.000,00 (€ 14.471.690,97).
