Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Property from the Estate of Sir John and Lady Smith, which included the work Portrait Of A Child, Traditionally Identified As Guy Oswald Smith (1861-1928) by Guido Schmitt. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,372.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Guido Schmitt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Queen Victoria im Ornat, which sold at auction in November 2015 for EUR 3,870.00.
