Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Calligraphy In Cursive Script by Gu Chun was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 25,000.00 (€ 2,637.90). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gu Chun - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu, which sold at auction in April 2017 for HKD 52,500.00 (€ 6,196.88).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy In Cursive Script von Gu Chun im April 2018 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 25.000,00 (€ 2.637,90) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Gu Chun mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu beobachtet, die im April 2017 für HKD 52.500,00 (€ 6.196,88) versteigert wurde.
