Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Your Damp Wounds Will Be Sorely Mist by Graham Gillmore was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,841.12). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Graham Gillmore - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Penmanship Is Queen Of The Arts, which sold at auction in March 2010 for USD 20,000.00 (€ 14,786.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Your Damp Wounds Will Be Sorely Mist von Graham Gillmore im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.841,12) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Graham Gillmore mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Penmanship Is Queen Of The Arts beobachtet, die im März 2010 für USD 20.000,00 (€ 14.786,34) versteigert wurde.
