Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of an artist, half-length, in a black coat and a white shirt by Giuseppe Maria Crespi was sold in the OLD MASTER PICTURES auction at Christies in London in December 2002. The price achieved of GBP 23,900.00 (€ 36,687.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giuseppe Maria Crespi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Madonna and Child in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 333,750.00 (€ 539,669.36).
