In January 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings, which included the work An extensive wooded landscape with fortified farm buildings by Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,800.00 (€ 8,276.50), 54% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A classical river landscape with figures fishing, which sold at auction in April 2005 for GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,761.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An extensive wooded landscape with fortified farm buildings von Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.800,00 (€ 8.276,50) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A classical river landscape with figures fishing beobachtet, die im April 2005 für GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.761,75) versteigert wurde.
