In July this year Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work An extensive landscape with a river and mountains by Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,528.00 (€ 4,116.11), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A classical river landscape with figures fishing in April 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,761.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit An extensive landscape with a river and mountains von Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.528,00 (€ 4.116,11) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A classical river landscape with figures fishing im April 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.761,75).
