Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Saint Clare of Assisi, having taken her vows, is welcomed at the altar by Saint Francis, surrounded by other figures by Giovanni Domenico Cappellino was sold in the Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 auction at Christies in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,512.00 (€ 1,805.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Domenico Cappellino - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Disrobing of Saint Lawrence, which sold at auction in January 2018 for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,040.55).
