This artwork by Domenico Bossi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2005. In the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings including Andrea del auction, the work Portrait of An Officer, Half-Length, Holding His Glove sold for GBP 14,400.00 (€ 20,887.06) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Domenico Bossi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Duke Adam of Württemberg (1792-1847), In Red Coat With Gold-Embroidered Red Facings, Gold Tassels And Buttons, Fur Collar And Dark Cravat, Wearing The Breast-Star of The Royal Württemberg Order of The Golden Eagle sold at auction in July 2005 with the realized price of GBP 19,200.00 (€ 27,849.42).
