In May 2012 Christies in Milan held the auction Dipinti Antichi, which included the work Madonna col Bambino by Giovanni di Pietro. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 82,700.00 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni di Pietro have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Madonna and Child in a landscape in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 475,000.00 (€ 411,184.21).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2012 führte Christies in Mailand die Auktion Dipinti Antichi durch, in der auch die Arbeit Madonna col Bambino von Giovanni di Pietro zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 82.700,00 und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni di Pietro auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Madonna and Child in a landscape im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 475.000,00 (€ 411.184,21).
