Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Italian her New Fan by Giovanni Costa was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,011.30). Other works by Giovanni Costa have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2008 by the work An odalisque with a red fan at GBP 25,000.00 (€ 31,762.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Italian her New Fan von Giovanni Costa im Mai 2011 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.011,30) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Costa wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juli 2008 die Arbeit An odalisque with a red fan mit GBP 25.000,00 (€ 31.762,78).
