Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Noah Shepherding The Animals Onto The Ark by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 42,447.75). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pagan Sacrifice in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 971,750.00 (€ 1,571,306.96).
