Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Head of a Man wearing a feathered Cap (possibly Portrait of Bernini, possibly a Self-Portrait), from: Large Oriental Heads by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione was worth USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,962.61) to a buyer in January this year. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and 19th Century Prints at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 2,500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pagan Sacrifice in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 971,750.00 (€ 1,571,306.96).

Die Arbeit Head of a Man wearing a feathered Cap (possibly Portrait of Bernini, possibly a Self-Portrait), from: Large Oriental Heads von Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione war einem Käufer im Januar diesen Jahres USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.962,61) wert.
