Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Prints auction, the work Fifteen Plates, From: Small Oriental Heads changed hands for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,094.72) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pagan Sacrifice in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 971,750.00 (€ 1,571,306.96).

In der Auktion Old Master Prints wechselte die Arbeit Fifteen Plates, From: Small Oriental Heads für GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.094,72) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Pagan Sacrifice im Juli 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 971.750,00 (€ 1.571.306,96).
