Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saints Barbara and Agnes by Giovan Francesco de Rosa was sold in the Master Paintings and Drawings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,870.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovan Francesco de Rosa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venus And Adonis in June 2008 with an auction result of USD 170,500.00 (€ 108,267.72).
