Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in New York held the auction IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN ART (EVENING SALE), which included the work Il Grande Metafisico by Giorgio de Chirico. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000,000.00 – 10,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,175,500.00 (€ 5,873,373.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giorgio de Chirico - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Il Pomeriggio Di Arianna (Ariadne’S Afternoon), which sold at auction in October 2020 for USD 15,890,400.00 (€ 13,643,341.63).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN ART (EVENING SALE) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Il Grande Metafisico von Giorgio de Chirico zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000.000,00 – 10.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 7.175.500,00 (€ 5.873.373,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Giorgio de Chirico mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Il Pomeriggio Di Arianna (Ariadne’S Afternoon) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für USD 15.890.400,00 (€ 13.643.341,63) versteigert wurde.
