In September 2011 Artcurial in Paris held the auction Collection d’un amateur de marine, 35 ans de passion, which included the work Etudes by Gilles Sarthou. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 124.00 55% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gilles Sarthou; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Cargo À Macau, 1989 sold at auction in September 2011 with the realized price of EUR 248.00.

Im September 2011 führte Artcurial in Paris die Auktion Collection d’un amateur de marine, 35 ans de passion durch, in der auch die Arbeit Etudes von Gilles Sarthou zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 124,00 und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Gilles Sarthou; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Cargo À Macau, 1989 im September 2011 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 248,00.
