Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Madonna at prayer by Giovanni Battista Pittoni was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 25,000.00 (€ 19,152.69). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Pittoni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Achilles Among The Daughters Of Lycomedes in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 250,000.00 (€ 274,483.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Madonna at prayer von Giovanni Battista Pittoni im Januar 2012 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 25.000,00 (€ 19.152,69) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Pittoni erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Achilles Among The Daughters Of Lycomedes im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 250.000,00 (€ 274.483,38).
