Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An allegorical design with Fame crowning Homer by Giacinto Calandrucci was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 8,106.36). Other works by Giacinto Calandrucci have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2011 by the work La Grappe Miraculeuse Du Pays De Canaan at EUR 15,301.00.
