Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction The Weldon Collection, which included the work Portrait Of A Scholar by Gerrit Dou. The price achieved of USD 610,000.00 (€ 546,497.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gerrit Dou have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Elderly Woman, Seated By A Window At Her Spinning Wheel, Eating Porridge in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 5,346,500.00 (€ 3,898,286.55).
