Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A village scene with peasants relaxing under a tree to the left, others dancing around a maypole beyond by Gerrit Adriaensz. de Heer was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction at Christies in London in July 2004. The price achieved of GBP 2,868.00 (€ 4,334.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gerrit Adriaensz. de Heer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Peasants Dancing And Singing By A Crumbling Castle in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 19,105.97).
