This artwork by Gerard van Groeningen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2004. In the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction, the work The Fall of Jericho (Joshua 6:15-20) sold for GBP 8,962.50 (€ 13,544.31) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gerard van Groeningen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Saul Being Lowered Down The Walls Of Damascus In A Basket sold at auction in July 2017 with the realized price of GBP 13,125.00 (€ 14,645.48).
