In March 2011 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, Art from the 19th, 20th and the 21st Centuries, which included the work Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris by Gerard Johan Staller. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,875.00 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Gerard Johan Staller have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Slapende hond: A dog asleep in January 2001 with an auction result of NLG 39,950.00 (€ 17,481.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im März 2011 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Nineteen to Now, Art from the 19th, 20th and the 21st Centuries durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris von Gerard Johan Staller zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 1.875,00 und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gerard Johan Staller auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Slapende hond: A dog asleep im Januar 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 39.950,00 (€ 17.481,34).
