Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction European Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Charge Des Cavaliers Arabes by Georges Washington. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,833.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georges Washington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Baignade Des Chevaux in June 2012 with an auction result of EUR 224,491.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion European Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Charge Des Cavaliers Arabes von Georges Washington zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 14.833,41) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Georges Washington erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Baignade Des Chevaux im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 224.491,00.
