This artwork by Georges Nicolas Toussaint Augustin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2020. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work Portrait of Pierre François Paulin, Comte de Barral (1745-1822) sold for GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,533.56) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Georges Nicolas Toussaint Augustin; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Homme En Costume Marron, Gilet Crème Brodé Et Grand Jabot, Dans Un Paysage De Ruines Antiques, Vers 1792 sold at auction in October 2013 with the realized price of EUR 3,158.00.
