In November 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The entrance to the harbour at Whitby by George Weatherill. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,626.64), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Weatherill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The fishing fleet becalmed off Whitby; and Unloading the day's catch, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,427.21).

Im November 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The entrance to the harbour at Whitby von George Weatherill zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.626,64) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Weatherill mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The fishing fleet becalmed off Whitby; and Unloading the day's catch beobachtet, die im Mai 2000 für GBP 5.875,00 (€ 9.427,21) versteigert wurde.
