In October 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction British & Continental Paintings, which included the work Early Morning On The Wye by George Vicat Cole. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,250.00 (€ 16,155.74), 61% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Vicat Cole - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Windsor Castle, from a backwater, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 29,875.00 (€ 46,782.71).

Im Oktober 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion British & Continental Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Early Morning On The Wye von George Vicat Cole zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 16.155,74) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Vicat Cole mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Windsor Castle, from a backwater beobachtet, die im November 2002 für GBP 29.875,00 (€ 46.782,71) versteigert wurde.
