Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Lines Horizontal II, 1972 by George Rickey was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September last year. It changed hands for a price of USD 28,050.00 (€ 28,672.19) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Rickey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work One Fixed Four Jointed Lines in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 519,000.00 (€ 465,512.60).

Die Arbeit Two Lines Horizontal II, 1972 von George Rickey wurde im September letzten Jahres in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 28.050,00 (€ 28.672,19) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Rickey erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit One Fixed Four Jointed Lines im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 519.000,00 (€ 465.512,60).
