Despite a disappointment, a good price for George James Knox
When the work On the beach near Blythe by George James Knox was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 235.00 (€ 343.24). Despite this disappointing result, On the beach near Blythe is the most expensive artwork by George James Knox that we have observed at auction so far.
