Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Beech trees in a late autumn landscape by George Howell Gay. The price achieved of USD 687.50 (€ 498.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 600.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Howell Gay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work High Tide; also a companion watercolor, which sold at auction in August 2005 for USD 2,400.00 (€ 1,946.47).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Beech trees in a late autumn landscape von George Howell Gay zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 687,50 (€ 498,44) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von George Howell Gay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit High Tide; also a companion watercolor beobachtet, die im August 2005 für USD 2.400,00 (€ 1.946,47) versteigert wurde.
