Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Fate Worse than Death by George Edward Robertson was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,790.94). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Edward Robertson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The love letter, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,607.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Fate Worse than Death von George Edward Robertson im Juni 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.790,94) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von George Edward Robertson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The love letter beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 14.340,00 (€ 20.607,36) versteigert wurde.
