Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The merchant barque Crown in two positions and paddle steamers off Folkestone by George Chambers Snr. was auctioned at Bonhams in London in November 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,231.25 (€ 2,490.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Chambers Snr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Margate in April last year with an auction result of GBP 35,580.00 (€ 42,427.89).
