Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2010 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters & 19th Century Art Including Select Works From the Salander-O'Reilly Galleries, which included the work A Mexican Frigate off Dover by George Chambers Snr.. Here, the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 18,750.00 (€ 15,255.06). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Chambers Snr. - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Margate, which sold at auction in April last year for GBP 35,580.00 (€ 42,427.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2010 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters & 19th Century Art Including Select Works From the Salander-O'Reilly Galleries durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Mexican Frigate off Dover von George Chambers Snr. zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 18.750,00 (€ 15.255,06) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von George Chambers Snr. mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Margate beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für GBP 35.580,00 (€ 42.427,89) versteigert wurde.
