Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2004 Christies in London held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES & DRAWINGS, which included the work A cavalry skirmish; and A cavalier mounting his horse, the squadron forming beyond by Georg Philipp Rugendas. The price achieved of GBP 956.00 (€ 1,353.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Georg Philipp Rugendas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A cavalry engagement, which sold at auction in April 2001 for GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,735.62).
